Elder Zack Jolley

Well Zack made it to Oregon. His trainer is Elder Larson from Wallsberg, up by Heber City. They are in Ashlund which is about 3 hours south of Eugene. They are in the temple district so he will be able to attend the temple once per quarter. His mission president called JoAnn to tell her that he made it safe and was happy to have him. He emailed us today and said he is doing great and has a baptism comming up the 8th of October.

Moab June 2011

We have NEVER been to Moab, so we decided to take a family trip to see what it is all about. Laura had a cast on her foot so she stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Jolley. She wore them both out but had a great time. The rest of us went and were able to see Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse point. It was a good trip, we hiked about 10 miles in the 2 days and stayed in a nice condo we found on KSL. KSL is awesome. Here is a link to out web album that has some geat pics.

Spring Break in Cancun 2011

This year we decided to go on one last trip as a whole family. Zack has is mission papers submitted and this will be the last time we can all go together. The kids wanted to go to Cancun and so, the great parents we are, we agreed. We invited Grandma and Grandpa Jolley to come with us as well. The resort was lacking in customer service and the food was very interesting, but the beach and pools were very nice. We went down town to the shopping areas and the kids discovered a whole new way to shop. The flea market is quite the place. They know the true meaning of customer service. We went to Chichen Itza and had a great trip. We were able to see all the ruins and had a great guide. We went with an LDS local guide service and it was great to get the LDS prospective on the ruins. We went to a nice hacienda for lunch and nobody got sick, they made sure it was a safe place. Then we went to a Cenote, which is a giant sink hole with water in the bottom. It was very refreshing after being in the hot sun at the ruins. When we made it thru customs in Atlanta everyone was very glad to back in the USA. It was nice but it is still Mexico.
We do truly live in the greatest country on the earth.

Sweethearts 2011

This year for sweethearts Zack asked Samantha Ellis and Skyler Hughes asked Kaylynn. They both went with groups and had a great time. Here are a few pics.
I thought it was hard to get enough sleep when the kids were little, it is harder now. I can not go to sleep until they are all home, so I end up staying up late.

Christmas 2011

This year we had the Jolley Christmas Eve party on the 23rd because Earl and his family went to Panguitch for Christmas. We had a great time and everyone came. We also had Lyle and Janice Barson. (Nikki's parents) Grandma LaVerne has spent many hours this year making blanktes for all the grandkids. She has kept all the material scraps from past years jammies and made a blanket with peices from each year. They all loved them and they turned out great.

"Polar Express" or something like it in Heber City

This is about the 10th year or so that we have been doing this with the Chisholm Family. We started this when our kids were very small and we both lived in Santaquin. That is where we became good friends and have remained so for many years. We enjoy getting together and our kids love it as well. The owners of the "Polar Express" name must have told them to stop and so this year was very different. They did pass out hot chocolate and a cookie but that is where the similarities ended. It was kind of lame, as the kids put it. We may have to find something else for next year. After we ride the train we always go to the Brick Oven for dinner. I am not sure which part is more fun for the kids. We all have a great time and it is good to get together with good friends.

25th Aniversary

This year we celebrated our 25th aniversary. We were married on June 7, 1985 in the Provo, Utah LDS temple. We decided to celebrate by going on a cruise to Alaska. We flew to Seattle and boarded the Golden Princess. We were doing the inside passage of Alaska. We stopped at Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria island and back to Seattle. We had a great time, met lots of people and saw some great sites.

Spring Break April 2010

This year we went to Mesquite Nevada to a condo for a couple of days of R & R. Monday we went back to St.George and shoped and kind of messed around. Tuesday the girls took off and headed to LA. I took the boys and we went to the shooting range. Zack and I shot a round of sporting clays and Zane was the score keeper. Yes, I won, but it was close. Then we came home. Zack and I had to work.

The girls went to see Tyler and Nikki's new baby. They had a great time visiting and going to the beach. Ty's family is doing well and the new baby is great. Mason told his pre-school teacher that his new brother just poops and cries.

Yellowstone in Winter

For Christmas this year we took the kids to West Yellowstone. We went snowmobiling, snowcoaching, etc. We took off the day after Christmas and came home New Years Eve. West Yellowstone is the snowmobile capital of the world and we saw snowmobiles at businesses, the grocery store and even at church. The ward is about 70 active members but sacrament meeting had about 250 people, and they said in the summer it averages 500. It was good to see the church is the same where ever you are in the world.

We went to the Bear and Wolf Discovery Center and saw real live bears and wolves, I was suprised to see how big wolves are, no wonder the pioneers were afraid of the wolves as they crossed the planes.

Monday when we took off on the snowmobiles it was -24, and Zane got very cold. We got him warmed up at the warming hut, about 15 miles into the park, and he was good to go the rest of the day. We saw elk, swans, buffalo and coyotes, I just wished I had a gun. Old Faithful was lots of steam, as were most of the geysers. But it was cool to see the park covered with snow. The snow conditions were down from average but it was much colder.

Tuesday we took a snowcoach to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. It was a 15 passenger van with snow tracks on all 4, it went in the snow very good. The waterfalls were all frozen over and it looked cool to see the water shooting out thru holes in the ice. We saw hundreds of buffalo and some were bedded right next to the road so we got a good look at them.

Wednesday we went outside the part on snowmobliles on our own. It was lots of fun. We went 72 miles that day. One spot we stopped was called Big Spring, it was a river where a big spring came into it. It was warm so nothing was frozen over and their were huge fish everywhere in the river.

It was a great trip and we were able to see Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Lots of country we have never seen before.

Texas Whitetails

December 7-13, 2009 I went to Maryneal, Texas for a deer hunt. I had a great time and made some new friends. Cal Workman, Larry & Shawn Larson, Ken & Kendrick Wilson (Rock Springs), Don Gifford (Provo), Dee Ray Gifford (Lubbock). We killed 15 deer, 10 pigs and a few other critters. It was a blast.

Jolley's Pharmacy

Our store is one of 4 Jolley's Pharmcies in the Salt Lake Valley. Our store is located at 8806 South Redwood Road in West Jordan. I have enjoyed owning my own business and only wish I would have done it sooner. I have great employees and a great partner, Mardy Jolley. We continue to grow even in this tough economy. SHHS Cross Country

Kaylynn is running on the cross country team this year, she enjoys it and it is also helping her with her competitive cheer team that she is on. It has cause some pain on me though, I have run 3 - 5k's this Summer. I have posted better times each time but it is a tough way to start a perfectly fine Saturday morning.

Santaquin pole canyon September 12, 2009. Today is the first day of the Pine Hen Hunt. My Dad did not want to get up too early and go so I waited for Laura to wake up and took JoAnn, Laura and Zane, oh yea, and the dogs(Wisk and Sammy).
We took the Rhino and had a good ride. We found 4 horny toads, lots of rocky trails and no chickens. A few places the trail was a bit rough and Laura and Zane sat in the back repeating "Please don't let us die, please don't let us die" over and over and over and over again. When it was all over Laura did say it was fun. Zane liked the BB gun shooting and JoAnn and I liked the views from up on the top. We could see all of Utah Valley and even down to Mona on the South. I guess I need to do a few more adventurous things with them to toughen them up.

DC 2009

This year the Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference was held in DC. JoAnn and I went and left the kids home. We had a great trip. We did get to sight see some and took care of business as well. It was amazing to stand in some of the great historical sites and see them with our own eyes. The tomb of the unknown soldier was very awe inspiring. The Washington and Lincoln monuments are huge. We were able to see the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution. They were in the National archives and they keep it dark to preserve the documents. No flash photography is allowed so the pics we took were hard to see. Cardinal reserved the Air and Space museum on night and so we had dinner and the whole place to ourselves. It was cool to see all that stuff in actual size.

Grand Canyon

We stayed at Jacob's Lake the first night.
We drove back to Kanab for Dinner and to kill some time.
The next day we went to the Grand Canyon, North Rim.
We took a mule trip down into the canyon and that is the only way to see the inside of the canyon. Those who hike down and back are crazy.
We went to several view points and went on a few easy hikes.
Dinner in the lodge was fun. We had a view of the canyon that made the bill almost seem worth it. Even Zane said "This was funner than I thought it would be" so, I guess we had a good trip.

Marysvale Utah

Randy Johnson put together a ride to show off the beauty of the Beaver mountians. We had a good day, nice weather and good company. It was great to spend the day with my Dad as well.

New babies

Misty(palimino) gave birth to a horse colt on May 15th at 5:30pm. Laura and her friend Kelsey were out in the yard when it happened and they saw the birth. They called me to come home quick, I was over to the neighbors, and see the new colt.

Then we waited and waited and waited some more for GoGo to have her baby. They were both due the same time but one went early and one late. GoGo finally had her baby on May 29th at about 11:00pm. I was out running kids to and from after school parties when we discovered the new filly. Both moms and colts are doing great. If you want to stop by and see them, I am more than happy to show them off.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes & Pipe Springs March 2009

As we drove to Kanab and back we listened to a great book called the Candy Shop Wars. Every time we got in the truck we had to turn it on. We would recommend it to everyone.

We went to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes and also went down to Pipe Springs in Arizona. It was a great trip and the hotel even had an indoor pool, so that of course made it even better.

Hawaiian Thanksgiving 2008

Last Christmas all the Jolley family talked about going somewhere for a vacation all together. We all decided to go to Hawaii for Thanksgiving. We had 18 of us all together. We were only missing one of my brothers and his family. It was lots of fun. We rented a beach house where we could all stay together, it had a pool and a hot tub as well. We went to Costco and bought the food and shared the cooking assignments. We went swimming, snorkeling, took a snokle cruise, went sight seeing to the volcano, sent to a laua, went sport fishing (which turned out to be chumming and no fish) and had lots of fun. Everyone got along well and we all had fun. We all would do it again in a heart beat, if money were no object. After we returned home we went on the Polar express in Heber City and Zane asked Santa for a return trip to Hawaii for Christmas this year. So, I know he had a great time.

Deer Hunt 2008

Trevor drew out on the Pansaguant for deer this year and so we have spent time scouting and looking for that big buck. We did find a few very good ones before the hunt, but that is BEFORE the hunt. We hunted hard and saw lots of bucks and some good ones that we passed on. Then right in Tropic Trevor shot this one. It was a great hunt. We saw lots of animals, shot some chuckers, shot at a few coyotes, but missed, and just spent time with Dad and my brothers. That was the best part.

Labor Day 2008

This summer we decided to invest in motorcycles, well I decided. Everyone now has a bike and we have had lots of fun. We went to Tropic, down by Bryce Canyon and spent a few days. We rode bikes around Troipc resiviour and at Grandma's in Marysvalle on the way home. We also went into the park and did the tourist thing. We have never taken the time to actually go into Bryce and show the kids where we both worked and see the sights. They enjoyed seeing the view points and listening to our stories about things we did and were we worked before we had kids. JoAnn worked in the lodge as a hostes in the dining room just after we were married. I worked on a youth conservation group when I was 12 and also worked with my grandpa on the horse rides for a couple summers. It was fun to see things again and see some of the changes over the years.

More Orlando

Disney World July 2008

This past July we went to Orlando for a Business conference and vacation. We went to Disney world. Part of the conference our kids went to "Camp Cardinal".

Camp Cardinal is put together by Cardinal Health, my wholesaler for work. They have kids split up into age groups and take them to area attractions. They were able to go to Universal Orlando, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Kennedy space center and many other things. They made friends from all across the country and had a great time. As a family we went to all the Disney parks. I even went for a ride at over 150 mph at the Rishard Petty race experiance. It was very exciting and I would do it again. We experienced the HUMIDITY, got to say "not a fan of that". It is green everywhere, and lots of water. I was a bit shocked at how dry we are here when we got home and were driving home.

We had a good time and the conference was pretty good as well. I won an iPod and a $2000 balance that I use at work.

My Dad invited me to go with him on this ride.

He is part of a group of education people from around the state.

We had superintendents, business officials, bankers, and lots of others.

We went up onto the Beaver mountains from the Marysvale side.

We saw beautiful vistas, old mine areas, wild life, snow and lots of dust.

It was a great trip. At one point we were on a peak that was 11,300 feet.

We woke to a new colt this morning. Both Misty and the colt are doing fine.
His daddy is a red roan with a dorsal stripe. He has the stripe and is a bit lighter now. He also has 2 white socks.
I think he will end up looking like his daddy.
He also has a blaze that gives him some character.
